Bravo, Slovenia

Facebook was founded in 2004, Twitter in 2006. Viber was launched in the beginning, and Instagram in October of 2010. In 2009, the idea came up to organize a music competition that would take place entirely online.

For most teachers and performers, organizing a music competition via the Internet (2010) under the slogan “THE FUTURE OF THE COMPETITION IS OPEN” seemed futuristic and technically difficult to implement from the very beginning.

Many competitors, teachers, and parents had a very limited understanding of how to use a computer. To successfully submit an online application, the participant had to overcome a number of technical challenges that were far from simple.

Until 2016/2017, contestants only used professional video cameras to record their video performances. MP4 is now the most popular video format, but it was previously flv or WEB.

Internet access was not available in every part of the world. Participants had to overcome such technical challenges in a variety of ways. We had a case when a parent from Siberia had to travel 400 km by helicopter to the nearest place with a good internet connection and send an application. Or the parent of a contestant from Mongolia, who had to travel several hundred kilometers to the nearest bank to pay the entry fee.

From the very beginning, we noticed, first of all, the curiosity and interest of the participants from Slovenia to something new, unusual and advanced.

A large number of letters that we received with various questions told us that music teachers, parents and students from Slovenia are open and positive, ready for new challenges, with progressive musical views on the future.

In addition, we noticed that the Slovenian participants were very punctual and responsible throughout the entire competition process (following the rules and deadlines, recording and converting videos in accordance with the conditions, submitting online applications …).

Many visitors to the site have enjoyed truly fantastic videos from Slovenian participants, which is primarily due to the well-organized school system, as well as the upbringing and preservation of the best traditions of their musical education.

Since the competition’s inception in 2010, Slovenian participants have had absolute winners in the majority of disciplines (27 competitive disciplines), as well as awarded participants and overall absolute winners.

The absolute winner in the Flute nomination and Masters Final, i.e. the absolute winner of all competitive nominations and the entire competition – Majcen Maša from Slovenia!

In communication with the jury and the participants themselves from different parts of the world, we often received letters of commendation about participants from Slovenia.

One example is the organized participation of almost all flute teachers from Velenje (2020), which impressed many participants, parents, jury members, and other site visitors.

Our site has a large number of visitors and video views. To appreciate the significance of Slovenian competitors’ participation, consider that our website receives 1,000 to 2,000 visitors per day from all over the world. Every month, we receive over 40,000 visitors, the majority of whom are professional musicians, parents, and classical music enthusiasts from all over the world!
