Szymon Olech

For the first time, in 2021, at our competition, we heard a video performance of ten-year-old drummer Szymon Olech, student of Zespół Szkół Muzycznych im. Feliksa Rybickiego, Tychy, Poland, class Misiak Mateusz. And with his first performance, Szymon immediately made an exceptional impression on the jury.

However, what sets him apart from the other members is the number of performance videos submitted! Over the course of three years, Szymon in all editions (SPRING, SUMMER and AUTUMN EDITION) prepared nine (9) competitive video performances with a completely new musical program and each of them was highly appreciated by the jury members.

Agree, few of the contestants can boast of so many compositions ready for concert and competitive performance.

“Szymon Olech is an absolute discovery in our competition! A distinctive feature of the game at his age is the thoroughness, completeness of interpretation. There are very few mistakes, unfinished episodes, unfortunate negligence in his playing… His art is warmed by inner warmth, devoid of harshness and dryness. His tone is full-sounding, always soft, pleasant for the listener. Behind his game one can feel great human kindness…”, sincere words and observation of the director of the competition, Milomir Dojčinović.

His musicality could be noticed already in the first months of his life, which is why his parents very early began to look for classes where Szymon could develop musically.

He was enrolled in his first music classes at the Yamaha School in Tychy at the age of two and attended there for a year.

Then, as a five-year-old, he started learning to play the snare drum and campanelli at the “SOART” Music Center in Tychy in the class of Mr. Mateusz Misiak.
