Sérgio Charrinho (Lisbon, Portugal)

Born in Lisbon, he began musical studies with his father at the Sociedade Musical Nisense band. In 1993, he joined the Portalegre Conservatory, where he studied with José Pereira. He continues his studies at the Beira Interior Professional School of Arts in 1996, with Fernando Jorge Ribeiro, and in 1999, at the Hector Berlioz Conservatory in Paris, with Bruno Nouvion.

He was laureate in 2001 at the RDP Prémio Jovens Músicos competition in chamber music with the Harmon-Brass brass quintet. Performed 1st Trumpet Solo at Orchester de la Cité International Universitaire de Paris for three years under the direction of A. MacDonnel and won the 1st Trumpet post at Orquestra do Algarve in 2002.

In 2002, he participated in the tribute to the composer G. Enesco, at the Romanian embassy in Paris, where he recorded the piece Legende for trumpet and piano for Romanian television. He recorded for the Portuguese Television, the program Sounds of Music, dedicated to the trumpet.

Has soloist he performed Haydn, Hummel, Bach, Telemann, Schostakovich, Fasch, Torelli, Marecello, Neruda, Arutiunian and Schwartz trumpet concertos.

He is a founding member of the trumpet quintet Almost6, with which he recorded the CD Sopros em Laboratório, edited in 2012 and organizes the International Trumpet Festival Almost6. Member of the Brass Factory Band, with which he recorded the Tribute CD to Frank Zappa in 2017.

He is 1st Trumpet at the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra since January 2003 and he is teatcher at the Superior Metropolitana Orchestra Academy. Sérgio Charrinho is a Yamaha Artist.
